Dolphins in the harbour entrance

Wednesday evening’s group paddling round the island had the rare treat of watching a pod of dolphins in the harbour entrance. With the light evenings, wednesday evening sessions have started again. These will usually alternate between Ladyburn Lake at Druridge Bay and Shorebase depending on the tides. 19 turned out for surf practice

There was a pretty big swell at Amble on Sunday which meant going out of the harbour didn’t appeal for most. But it was a great opportunity to practice surfing in the wave basin and there were 19 people enjoying the spring sunshine and the chance to get some coaching. Last river run of the season

Last Sunday was the last day of the winter river paddling season and a small group did a favourite run from Haydon Bridge to Hexham on the Tyne. That’s it until the autumn unless the rivers are in spate.

Club adventure in Spain

The weather has been unkind to Northumbrian kayakers recently with no water in the rivers and big waves on the sea. However some of the sea group have been having an idyllic time in Catalonia on an adventure with members of the Wansbeck club. They’ve booked again for next year.

Club coaches win award

Two inspiring club coaches received senior achievement awards at the Alnwick and District Sports Council Awards last week.
