This year’s round the island race had 27 entrants from as far afield as Edinburgh and Halifax, on an ideal day with calm conditions and 0.6m swell to the South of the island. Most of the contingent from the club is shown above. Of the group pictured, Richard Sill was the fastest at just under the hour, but everyone completed it in less than an hour and ten minutes. The overall winner was Junior entrant Will Stevely, 15, of Forth Canoe Club in the record time 42 minutes 43 seconds, paddling a ski. He shaved 13 seconds off Gilbert Spiers time in 2017. (Times for the current course – 2015 onwards.) The winning Sea Kayak was paddled by Neil Turnbull in 45 minutes 30 seconds. Connor Proud was the fastest club member at 54 minutes 7 seconds.
