Non-paddlers are often surprised that we keep on kayaking through the winter but if you have a good drysuit with warm layers under it then being on the water in a canoe is a great way to get outdoors in bad weather. On Sunday there was plenty of water in the North Tyne and the river runners had a great day out as they whizzed from Wark to Chollerford – the fastest they’ve done that trip. Sunday for the sea group was a trip upstream from Amble because the weather and conditions to begin with were challenging. They practised some skills and drills on the way, played around the bridge posts at Warkworth before returning- getting blown back downstream towards Shorebase. Some folks continued to the wave basin to practice some low supports in the waves. The rest of the group got off the water and warmed up with a cuppa before departing for home.
