Sunday’s club outing was a river run on the Coquet from Poppy’s drop to Weldon Bridge. High water levels made some great conditions for surfing and practising breaking in and out of the flow. Running the rapids at Barrasford

The club traditionally helps out with the Tyne Tour at the start of November, organised by Hexham Canoe Club. After organising the car park the Coquet club group goes for a run down the North Tyne. Halloween fun

Last Sunday the club met at Shorebase just before sundown with some wonderfully decorated boats for a paddle up the estuary as it got dark. Followed by a curry meal in Shorebase thanks to Linda and Tom who provided some delicious food. Tap/click to see more photos by Margaret Ranken.

River runs starting again

Sugar Sands outing

Get-together at the lake

On Sunday, when the low tide made Shorebase unattractive, river boats, open canoes and sea kayaks all turned out for rescue practice at Ladyburn Lake while the water is still warm-ish. A useful session with new skills learned and old ones sharpened up. And a chance for more of us to gather in one place. … Read more

The club river paddlers spend the summer paddling on the Coquet at Amble and Warkworth. When the tide is right they practise their moving water skills ready for the winter’s river runs as this video by Dave Burke shows.

Loch Lomond camping from canoes

Several Coquet Canoeists enjoyed a lovely weekend exploring the islands at Loch Lomond.
